Long beautiful warm days are my only excuse not to have blogged over summer. Tomorrow is March and officially ends ‘summer’, not that I think the weather is going to change in a huge hurry… Here’s a wee taster of some of the things I got up to over summer. Still so many places and people I have been around and still many stories to tell, if only for Mr Time !

Many years ago I performed on stilts for a school production at the Wellington Town Hall. It was nerve wracking and I was muttering many prayers that I did not fall down and let the side down – luckily I didn’t.
These lovely ladies (my note: low resolution doesn’t work well with white!) perform on stilts (http://www.bandsforhire.co.nz/empress_stiltdance.htm) because they love it and are fantastic at their art. I loved the fluidity when they moved and the way in which the wind played with their costumes. I will leave this art form to the experts!

Today is the premier of Peter Jackson’s first installment of ‘The Hobbit: an unexpected journey’ in downtown Wellington. I took a brief look (as time allows when you have small people) at the set up and the red carpet this morning before the madness this afternoon. Some pretty keen diehard fans had been camped out overnight to get the best viewing spot of the stars.

I was pleasantly surprised at how this photo turned out of the sunlight playing on the incoming tide and this piece of seaweed during a seaside visit with my boys to Whitirea Park last week. I thought I would enhance the image, but still prefer the original.
Words today are like the shells and rope of seaweed which a child brings home glistening from the beach and which in an hour have lost their luster.
